Ms. Juanita A. Broome, 66

Ms. Juanita Broome, 66 departed this earthly life and entered into eternal rest on Monday, July 28, 2014 as a result of a car accident.
Ms. Broome was born in Fairfield County on April 11, 1948. She graduated from Fairfield High School, and received a degree in Nursing. She was employed by S.C. Department of Mental Health as a Nurse; she also worked at other Healthcare facilities in Fairfield and Richland Counties. She was loved and admired by her professional peers and friends, and showed true compassion to the patients she cared for.
Surviving are one Daughter: Shanda Latrice Mathis, Portsmouth, VA;  Daughter-in-law, Michelle L. Mathis, Winnsboro, SC; Three grandchildren, Shadae K. Mathis, Arshad Mathis, Jr. and Ashton Thomas; Her companion of 40 years, Mr. Mercer Mathis. Brothers;  Kenneth and Claude Broome of Winnsboro, SC, Ralph Connely, Hickory, NC, Dwight Worthy, Greenville, SC, Curtis, Cedric and Barron Broome of Columbus, GA. Two Sisters, Patricia Broome, Winnsboro, SC, and Becky Wilson, Jacksonville, Fla, Cousins and many other relatives and friends.
Memorial Services will be held for Ms. Broome at Bethlehem AME Church, 3276 Smallstown Road, Winnsboro, SC on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at 4:00PM, the family will receive friends directly after services at the church.

Mr. Edward "E.W" (Dude) Evans Jr. 71

Mr. Evans departed this earthly life and entered into eternal rest on Monday, July 21 at his home surrounded by his family.

E.W. was born in Fairfield County on August 24, 1942. He graduated from Fairfield High School, after which he entered the US Army. He was employed at Performance Fibers, Winnsboro, SC and retired from the SC National Guard.
Dude was predeceased by his parents, Ed Evans, Sr., and Anna Lou Walker Evans; and his daughter Tonia Maria Evans.

Surviving are his loving wife of 43 years Rebecca Wilson Evans; two daughters; Linda D. Wilson, and Sonya Evans, Winnsboro, SC, Brothers; Jimmy Walker, Great Falls, SC, Pete Evans, Carlisle, SC, Willie Evans, Lancaster, SC, Thomas Evans, Ridgeway, SC, Amos Evans, John Evans, Samuel Evans, Nathaniel Evans all of Winnsboro, SC; Sisters; Nancy Brice, Mildred Thompson, Lillie Evans of Winnsboro, SC and Louise Andrews, Pikesville, MD.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at the Russell-McCutchen Funeral Home from 1:00pm to 7:00pm.

Funeral services will be held at the Greater Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 2508 Camp welfare Road, Winnsboro, SC  on Thursday July 24, 2014 at 1:00pm (12:00 noon Viewing) Interment will follow in the Church cemetery with military Honors. Mr. Jackie Boyd, 60

Mr. Jackie Boyd departed this earthly life and entered into Eternal Rest on Sunday, June 29, 2014 in Winnsboro, SC.
Jackie was born in Winnsboro, SC  on August 1, 1953. He graduated from McCrorey-Liston High School in 1971 and attended Central Wesleyan University.  He worked on numerous construction jobs throughout his career.
Jackie enjoyed sports, especially basketball and baseball. He excelled in basketball during high school as well as college. 
Jackie is predeceased by his parents, James Edward and Lillie Bell Boyd.
Surviving are his loving  brothers James E. (Regina)  Boyd, Jr. of Camden, SC and Costello (Raye) Boyd of Winnsboro, SC; son Jackie T. Agnew of Statesville, NC; and daughter Tiffany Williams (Tony) Ellison of Duluth, Georgia; grandsons Jackie and Josh Agnew of Statesville, NC; granddaughters Ariel Agnew of Statesville, NC and Olivia Ellison of Duluth, Georgia.
The visitation will be held at Russell McCutchen Funeral Home, 324 S.Vanderhorst St, Winnsboro, SC on Thursday, July 3, 2014 from 1-7 PM.
The funeral service will be held at St. John’s Baptist Church, Anderson Quarry, Winnsboro, SC  on Saturday, July 5, 2014. Mr. Boyd will lie in state from 1-2 PM, service will begin at 2 PM.  Interment to follow in St. John’s  Baptist Church Cemetery.
