Mrs.Beatrice Lee Padgett, 96

Mrs. Beatrice Lee Padgett of 1784 West Peach Road, Winnsboro, SC, peacefully passed from this life to her heavenly home on October 31, 2015 at the Physical Rehabilitation and Wellness Center, Spartanburg, SC.

 Born on April 30, 1919, she was a daughter of the late Arthur Robertson and the late Lucy Hall Robertson.  The widow of the late Richard Padgett, Mrs. Padgett was a member of St. Luke Baptist Church in Winnsboro where she served as the Mother of the Church.  She also served as a member of the Deaconess Ministry, Sunday School teacher, and member of the Jubilee Choir.  Mrs. Padgett was a member of the Progressive No. 253 Order of the Eastern Stars.  In her latter years Mrs. Padgett became a watch care member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Spartanburg, SC.

A hard worker and a woman of integrity, she gave her all in whatever she was called to do.  She was well-known for baking cakes, gardening, and sewing.  But most of all, she enjoyed being a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and spending time with her siblings and extended family.

Mrs. Padgett is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Janice Gail Padgett (Robert) Brewer of Spartanburg, SC; two grandchildren:  Richard (Shannan) Brewer of Fountain Inn, SC; Dr. Robyn Brewer (Donnie) Littlejohn of Gaffney, SC; three great-grandchildren:  Rebekah Brewer, Ryan Brewer, and Rachel Brewer, all of Fountain Inn; one brother, Thomas C. Robinson of Winston-Salem, NC; four sisters:  Hattie R. Brice of Blair, SC, Fannie R. Davis and Constance R. Bookert, both of Columbia, SC; and Carrie Etta R. (Ret. Bishop Z. L.) Grady of Charleston, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to either the St. Luke Baptist Church Building Fund, 183 St. Luke Church Road, Winnsboro, SC 29180 or the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church Nehemiah Project, P.O. Box 6001, Spartanburg, SC 29304.

Homegoing services will be held at 1:30 pm on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at St. Luke Baptist Church, Winnsboro, SC.  Services will be officiated by Rev. Jasper Lloyd, Pastor of the church and the homegoing message will be delivered by Rev. Dr. M. Keith McDaniel, Sr., Pastor of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church of Spartanburg, SC.  The interment will immediately follow the homegoing services at the church cemetery.  The family will be receiving friends at the home at the Peach Road residence.   Visitation will be at the Russell-McCutchen Funeral Home, 324 S. Vanderhorst St., Winnsboro from 1-7PM., Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2015.

Ms. Bridgette Vanessa Ashford, 43 of 252 Eagle Trail Jenkinsville SC passed away on October 14, 2015 at Palmetto Health Richland. She is survived by her father: Mr. Wade D. Ashford of Jenkinsville SC, one brother: Mr. Desmond T. (Latoya) Ashford of Jenkinsville SC, and a host of nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and friends. Funeral services will be 2:00 Monday October 19, 2015 at Russell-McCutchen Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church cemetery.Viewing will be Sunday October 18, 2015 from 3 to 7 at Rusell-McCutchen Funeral Home Chapel.
