Hadiyah Muwwakkil AKA: Ella Lou Watts, 107

Hadiyah Muwwakkil aka Ella Lou Watts was born September 22, 1909 in Fairfield County. The oldest of fourteen, she was the daughter of the late Robert & Frances Willingham. At the age of 19, the former Ella Lou Willingham married her, “Knight in Shining Armor” Otis Watts, her devoted late husband of 42 years. They were blessed with fourteen children. She became Muslim and embraced Islam in 1962, & later changed her name legally to Hadiyah Muwwakkil in 1977. At the age of 89, she was honored with a visit to the Holy City of Mecca for Hajj.  She returned to Allah at home on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at the age of 107.

Our beloved mother, Ss. Hadiyah was a homemaker on their farm & self taught with many skills. With a humble life of simplicity she was an honored member & Matriarch of Masjid As-Salaam. A mother, sister & friend to all who knew her, she touched the lives of so many, generation after generation.  A humble servant, committed to serving God & helping others. Her humility, dedication & patience preceded tireless lifetime efforts of humanitarian acts of service. Her kindness & generosity extended across faiths & she was well loved by her family, friends & community at large.

Hadiyah leaves to cherish her, 3 sons; Nello (Mary) Watts of Detroit, MI, Moses (Ruby) Watts of Pinebluff, AR; Quadir (Hanunah)  Muwwakkil of Winnsboro, SC, her 4 daughters; Ruby(Howard) Karriem & Mini’imah Shabazz, of Winnsboro, SC, Maryam Shareef & Shirdene Sabree, of Columbia, SC & step-daughters Bertha  (James) Warren & Clara Perkins, both of Harrisburg, PA; her brothers, Aaron Willingham of Detroit, MI, & Wardell Willingham of Winnsboro, SC & sisters Izetta Gripper of Southfield, MI, & Lodesta Parnell of Winnsboro, SC.

Hadiyah was the matriarch of five generations and leaves behind a host of grands, great grands & great great grands.  She was preceded in death by her husband Otis Watts, her sons Otis Jr., Willie Robert, Elijah Watts, her daughter Willie Mae, and 7 brothers and 2 sisters.

Funeral services will be 1:00pm Friday, March 31, 2017@ Russell-McCutchen Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the As-Salaam Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 to 7:00 pm Thursday, March 30, 2017 at Russell-McCutchen Funeral Home, 324 S. Vanderhorst St. Winnsboro SC 29180. Condolences can be made to russellmccutchen.net.

Mrs. Dorothy Woodard Hopkins

Dorothy Woodard Hopkins was born in Blair, South Carolina to the late Thomas Edward Woodard and Rebecca Trapp Robinson Woodard.
Mrs. Hopkins attended Chapel School in Blair, S.C., Winnsboro High School in Winnsboro, S.C., and Sims High School in Union, S.C.  At an early age, she joined Gethsemane Baptist Church in Blair, S. C. She was a former member of the Gethsemane Baptist Church choir.
Mrs. Hopkins was married to the late George Hopkins of Blair, S. C.
She was employed by Chester County Hospital in Chester, S.C., Wallace Thompson Hospital in Union, S.C., Tanglewood Nursing Home in Ridgeway, S.C.
Survivors include one daughter, Georgia Gladney McNeal of Irmo, S.C., two sons, Jessie (Lorraine) Hopkins of Blair, S.C., Thomas Hopkins of Columbia, S. C.  and two nieces reared in the home Margaret Robinson and Jearline Seabrooks of Blair,S.C.; one son-in-law Johnnie Charles of Blair, S.C. three brothers, Clarence Woodard of Charlotte, N. C., Jessie Woodard  and Glenn Woodard of Blair, S.C. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, a great-aunt  Flora Little of Charlotte, N.C. who is 107 years old, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She has one devoted friend Mozell Feaster.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Dorothy “Kathy” Charles and son John Marion Hopkins.
Funeral will be 1 pm (12 noon viewing) Wednesday March 22, 2017 @ Gethsemane Baptist Church in Blair, S.C. with burial in the Church Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 pm to 7 pm Tuesday March 21, 2017 @ Russell-McCutchen Funeral Home, 324 S. Vanderhorst St. Winnsboro, S.C 29180.

Mr. Robert E. Young, 70

 Mr. Robert E. Young 70, of 505 Alexander Cir. Winnsboro SC passed away on March 15, 2017. He leaves to cherish his memories his sons: Derrick Young of Florence SC, Robert Young Jr, Troy and David Boulware of Winnsboro SC, Darryl and Xavier Young of Winnsboro SC. His daughters: Tanya Gibson of Baton Rouge LA , Caprise Young of Winnsboro SC, Angela Boulware Peters of Winnsboro SC, Olympia Simmons of Columbia SC, Mary, Daisy, Tamika, Talisa, Latrise Young all of Winnsboro SC, Marshetta Young of Rock Hill SC. One brother: Billy Marshall Young of Blackstock SC, sisters: Bettye Jean Young of Winnsboro SC and Cora Carter of Chester SC, and a host of other loving relatives and friends all of whom will miss him dearly. Mrs. Tasha L. Hubbard, 39

On Saturday March 4, 2017 at 11:30 pm God saw it was time to take away the pain and sorrow, God released you and call you home. Tasha L. Hubbard known as “Big Red” was born on September 14, 1978 to Patricia Thompson of Blair SC. She attended Fairfield County Schools. She leaves behind her loving husband: Thomas Chris Hubbard, her three children: Kasey and Jessica Thompson, and Charles Derrick (Breanna) all Columbia SC, her loving mother: Patricia Thompson (Larry), grandmother: Mary Sanders  and two grandchildren who she loved and cherished dearly. Two brothers: Terrence Thompson (Melissa) and Carlton Yarborough (Tasha), two sisters: Jocasta Sabrina Alston (Jerome ) and Lekisha  A. Erving (David), two special uncles Jamie Sanders (Janet) and Ricky Sanders (Linda),  and a  host aunts, uncles, great aunts, great uncles, cousins and friends all whom will miss her dearly .
