Edward William Pearson was born May 15, 1927 to the late
Robert and Annie Kate Person in Bethel, North Carolina. After graduation from high School Edward
moved to Washington DC where he enlisted in the United States Army. He is a veteran of World War II, and served
in the European theater. He continued a
career in service to his country by joining the State Department after the
war. There he served in communications
for forty years.
During his years in Washington he gathered a strong
community of friends and colleagues, had a daughter Geraldine, took a wife, the
lovely Dessie Brown, and built a magnificent life. After more than fifty years, he and his
lovely wife moved to her birthplace in Great Falls, South Carolina. He joined Greater Mt. Zion Baptist Church
where he became faithful member and trustee.
His was a life well lived with God and family at its
center. He was preceded in death by his
mother and father Robert Person and Annie Kate Grigsby, a brother Robert
Person, and a sister Annie Ruth Davenport.
He leaves to cherish his memory a loving wife of forty-nine years Dessie
Pearson, one daughter Geraldine Pearson Taylor,threegranddaughters: Andrea
Taylor, Shauntae (George) Greene and Tracee’ (John) Garrison, three great grandchildren,
a brother Eugene Person, Sister in Law Dorothy Personand many nieces, nephews
and friends. Special friends Shirlene
and Manuel Flowers, Eugene Wyatt, Lester Cunningham, Mattie Smith, Walter Larry
Stewart, caregivers Maggie Dewese, Arlieda Patrice Page and Bernadette Canty
and her daughter Anaya ( Baby Girl) Canty, treasured nieces Connie Fleming and Wanda Wickham, and the loving Brown and Dewese
families will keep his memory strong.
